CATSKI THE SHARPLANINA, MACEDONIA

Snowcat skiing in Macedonia has grown in popularity in the last few years, mainly because of the natural make up of the Shar high mountain plateau which allows easy high point access via snowcat. While well known ski resorts across Europe are overcrowded, freeriding in Macedonia is a totally different experience.

Jump in the cabin on the back of the cat and on a day with good visibility there are no restrictions to what is possible. Skiing fresh lines from top to bottom with up to 850 vertical meters in one single run. From wide open faces, narrow couloirs and natural pipes, the nature of the terrain is the gift that keeps giving. If the conditions are not the best, don’t fret, we just stay low for amazing forest skiing where the powder snow is protected from the wind.

All guides have six years minimum experience guiding in the Shar terrain, and all are experienced freeriders. Two guides are always provided for each Snowcat group (one front up front and one tail guide for optimal safety). All lines are led by the expert guides. Additionally, we provide you with all necessary safety equipment such as an avalanche transceiver beacon and ABS avalanche bag all included in the price.
